A Little over 50 questions.

So I do understand that Devs have been rocked by a few raids, but I thought this Forum would great for answering a few questions that I have about the Mod, mostly the ones I never got an answer on. Here they are! ;)

1. What are all the differences between the TotA and OTL Catholic Church?
2. The Post-Pence succession teaser is made to look very roman, with the statues and whatnot, but will the actually focuses for the succession reflect the ancient roman aesthetic?

15. Are there as many missionaries in Africa as in OTL?

20. Are the lands in Africa Departments or Overseas territories?
21. I remember you guys said in the comments of that TotA TLDR video that Macron didn’t suppress other parties but makes deal with them, does he tend to lean towards the far left or Far right parties?
22. Does the RN/FN exist in TotA or are the pre-war far right league parties more popular
23. Does the French presidency have term limits or is it until their coalition collapses
24. Will Macron be ousted if he loses the war in Italy and Africa?
25. What African countries will fight against France with Libya?
26. Due to the US still using the Quota system for immigration, Are most immigrants from Europe?
27. Are Arab countries considered “White” by the TotA US gov? 1c. Which country are most “recent” Immigrants to US from?
28. When the 2ACW kicks off, how big is the ensuing refugee crisis (in millions)?
29. I saw a lot of the ACW unifier superevents they mention Tijuana, so do most people move to Mexico instead of Canada? 3.During the ACW, there are volunteers that are sent by aligned governments, but how many clandestine or non-authorized volunteers join in on the war?

Holy Mary Mother of Joseph! Uh, alright. I'll try answering these in 10-question blocks for my own sanity.

1) Benedictine reforms are ongoing, and Bergoglio never takes power. The Papal conclave doesn't happen for a decade or two and the ideological make-up of the Vatican is more similar to John Paul II's time rather than Francis and the "defenders of the poor" et al.

2) No, it was a theme we decided on because of how Roman the whole succession crisis around Pence felt, what with archetypes that are very similar to famous Emperors. It's possible that we'll have some further Roman allusions and references through the Pence content whenever we complete it in the future.

3) While most people in Manchukuo (~50%) are Han Chinese, there is a complex tapestry of ethnicities due to increasing amounts of expats and diaspora communities making it their home. They're all emphasized equally to the Han Chinese populace, which in turn makes many of them disproportionately represented (but that's by design!). The populace is composed roughly like this:
  • Han Chinese: 45-55%
  • Japanese: 25-32%
  • Koreans: 9-14%
  • Manchus: 8-10%
  • Indonesians: 4-5%
  • Harbin Russians: 2-5%
  • Other Europeans: 1%
The percentages add up to more than 100% due to significant intermixing and other problems with census-keeping which mean there may be more or less of a group depending on how you define them.

4) Yes, it's a (mostly) constitutional monarchy that has a large class of managerial bureaucrats keeping track of most of governance, which effectively leaves the monarch powerless a lot of the time, especially because she (the Empress) is at an advanced age.

5) Yeah, that seems like a very logical pair.

6) Yep!

7) Yes, I don't recall us having specific lore that changes Vatican II, although it's been addressed a few times prior.

8) N/A

9) Europe is very secular, probably even more than OTL. All the communist regimes are still in place in Eastern Europe and ultimately even Catholic bastions like Spain and Portugal are secular/atheist states.

10) I'll have to check with our HRL dev, but I'll keep in touch.

So do religious people have a worse reputation, i.e the connotation of "Cathos" in France, or is it more of a 'live and let live' attitude?

I'd say France specifically is currently a bit of a lore black hole. We've been seriously considering redoing France from the ground up since the current setup feels really dated (le Macron Jupiter memery being one of the bigger problems), so I can't quite make judgements on France specifically.

I personally think that if toned down a bit it's still a pretty cool concept. I mean yeah it's memey but that's part of the charm. it's also pretty unique, I can't really think of an actual good althist scenario (let alone a hoi4 mod) that does this
for me it's already an established part of the mod at least

that said I'm not one to bitch and moan about every single change (especially if it's to move away from memey or unrealistic stuff)

1. Are the Libertarians gonna get any content in the Go West update?

2. How common is deadlocking on American history? I'd guess a lot considering the 3rd parties and all of the political chaos.

If you mean the Free States of America no they won’t be receiving playable focus trees in Go West. You can however beat them up as Cali or any other Go West tag.

I'm back!

11. Does the HRL own all religious buildings?

I don't dev Israel so I'll have to skip this one, sorry.

12. Is Austrobavaria secular or do they co-operate with the Church

They're not Catholic-centric, let alone traditionalists if that's what you're asking. Generally speaking, they, the closest ideological inheritors of National Socialist Germany take a secular, modernistic approach to their far-right ideology.

13. Does the Church side or favor any of the ACW factions

The Vatican, under Benedictine doctrine, generally focuses on humanitarian aid and minimizing violence. They've deliberately avoided making any endorsements on grounds of fearing increases of violence under their name.

14. Do any of the unifiers try to suppress the Catholic Church?

Kanye might, the Neo-Nazis certainly will, and some Libertarians have that opportunity also. I'm not entirely sure on the Yarvinite take on Catholicism but it's probably more negative than positive.

15. Are there as many missionaries in Africa as in OTL?

Yeah, except for the communist nations (Angola, Republic of Congo...)

16. Why does France pull out completely from Algeria?

The current public lore is that France pulled out from Algeria due to the significantly more organized and rabid hatred of French colonialism there, with France focusing on holding their relatively more loyal territories down south instead, emphasizing even more of a civic, anti-racist "global Francophonie".

17. When they defeat Italy, the annex it; I know you guys said it was the first step to a European Federation, so what is the next country it annexes?

België, probably.

18. Due to the African Territories is there a high African pop in the metropole?

Yes, although they are significantly better assimilated, with less crime and poverty. In addition, some African cities like Bodéléville have significant non-African populations.

19. Do they develop their African territories industrially

Yes. There are "belts" of factories and industrial zones across the African provinces, with emphasis especially made in the Ivory Coast and Benin.

20. Are the lands in Africa Departments or Overseas territories?

Regions and Departments, considered extensions of France herself. Generally speaking, it's "Politically incorrect" to talk about Africa as separate besides in obvious ways like oceans dividing it and so on.
